Steve Price recently clocked over 30 mango seasons in breakfast radio! Wow! 30 years in the same market! Not only has Pricey created a rare feat in radio; longevity, he has delivered a masterclass in marketing.
Whether you love his references to mango seasons, nose phones, tropical Friday shirts and sometimes quite ridiculous anecdotes, you have to admire his ability to be him, there is no-one else like him.
And that's the special sauce.
Steve Price is brand Pricey. From beginning to end. He is always evolving with the market and the times (remember his white overalls, no shirt and mullet or his on court shenanigans at the Crocs?), but he is never straying from being him. I'm sure he would have had pressure to tone it down from CEOs or marketing managers over the years. He has outlasted quite a few, but still he's there, on Triple M in Townsville.
Love him or loathe him.
