Government grants - what's on offer?

I'm a firm believer that most of of us pay our fair share of tax, so when there is a grant on offer, particularly for small and medium sized business, I'm all over it. Whether it's federally funded or state funded, I'm often asked what's on offer, so here's my summary for the current round of grants.

Ignite Ideas Fund.

• Up to $250K.
• Part of the Advance Queensland initiative.
• The Ignite Ideas fund aims to support startups and small to medium Queensland businesses to commercialise market ready innovative ideas that generate jobs today and in the future, enhance innovation and skilled job opportunities across regional Queensland, help Queensland businesses compete in global markets and grow Queensland’s reputation.

Business Growth Fund.

• Up to $50K.
• Delivered through the Office of Small Business.
• The Business Growth Fund Program is a grant program which provides targeted assistance for small and medium businesses that demonstrate high-growth and employment aspirations. The fund will enable successful applicants to purchase and implement specialised equipment or services to help them seize growth opportunities.

Youth Boost.

• Up to $20K.
• Part of the Back to Work program.
• Different closing dates whether you are based in regional Queensland or South East Queensland.

Entrepreneurs Programme.

• Australian Government Initiative.
• Few parts to this one including a Business Evaluation and grants for business growth consultants/activity.

I have worked with clients who have received funding through each of the programs outlined above. Each has commented that of course there has been paperwork and time needed to check eligibility (as you would expect) however, each has also commented that it has been worthwhile.
